Father’s Day this year is on Sunday, June 19, but did you know that the week leading up to Father’s Day is National Men’s Health Week, this year from June 13 to 19?
Men, whether or not you’re a dad or grandpa, this week is for you. It’s a great time to check in and make sure you’re taking care of your health. For example:
- Is there a health appointment you’ve been putting off? Have you had your annual wellness visit? Now is a good time to make the appointment and check it off your to-do list! Remember: VNSNY CHOICE Medicare members, your plan rewards you for taking certain health actions. Go here for more information.
- Have you had your prostate checked this year? Over 30 million men have prostate conditions that affect their daily lives, and 230 million are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. It’s important to have a doctor check your prostate health every year.
- Are you eating well and exercising? Now is a good time to revisit your new year’s resolutions and renew them.
- Wear a blue ribbon on Friday June 17, and tell anyone who asks it’s for National Men’s Health Week!
Women, you can support the men in your life by giving them some gentle encouragement to focus on their health and well-being not just this week but throughout the year.
Men, set aside “toughing it out” for one week and take health actions for your own good. Your loved ones will thank you for it.
